Privacy Policy

Sky Learning Studio is a brand of Rock Castle Solutions LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains how our website and games handle information. Our games are made for children, so they are designed without advertising profiles, third-party analytics, or a Sky Learning Studio account system. Word Fall uses child-directed, non-personalized advertising as described below. Kotoba Quest and some other games offer optional features through Apple Game Center, as explained below.

The short version

• No Sky Learning Studio account, name, or email address is required to play our games.
• Most of our games contain no third-party advertising, ad tracking, or third-party analytics. Word Fall uses child-directed, non-personalized advertising through Google Mobile Ads; see its dedicated policy below.
• Solo progress and best-round records are stored only on the device.
• Kotoba Quest’s optional Kotoba Match feature requires Apple Game Center and exchanges limited match information through Apple’s service.
• We do not operate a multiplayer server and do not store Game Center player or match information in a Sky Learning Studio database.
• The personal information we receive directly is what an adult chooses to send through this website’s contact form or by email.
• We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.

Information stored by our games

Outside the optional Game Center features described below, our games do not request names, email addresses, phone numbers, photos, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers. Solo progress — such as worlds completed and best rounds — is written to local storage on the device. We do not receive it on a server. Deleting the app deletes that local progress.

Kotoba Quest and Apple Game Center

Kotoba Quest checks the device’s Game Center sign-in state when it opens. Game Center is not required for the solo word-world journey. The optional Kotoba Match feature requires a Game Center sign-in and an internet connection so Apple can authenticate the player and find an opponent.

For Kotoba Match, the app uses the Game Center display name and a game-scoped player identifier to show who is playing and to keep both devices in the same match. Through Apple Game Center, the two players’ devices exchange the selected card-language mode, a random board seed, card selections, turn state, matched cards, pair and mistake totals, and the match result or forfeit state. This information is used only to run the current match. Kotoba Quest has no free-text messaging, voice chat, photo sharing, or location sharing.

Sky Learning Studio does not operate a server for Kotoba Match and does not retain Game Center display names, player identifiers, opponents, or match records in a developer database. Match information is held in app memory for the session and exchanged through Apple’s Game Center service. Apple may collect and retain Game Center account, device, gameplay, opponent, score, and activity information under Apple’s own privacy terms.

A parent or guardian can restrict multiplayer and other Game Center features through the device’s Screen Time and Content & Privacy Restrictions settings. Signing out of Game Center or disabling multiplayer does not prevent the solo Kotoba Quest journey from being played offline.

Children’s privacy (COPPA and similar laws)

Our games are directed to children and are designed with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), and the EU GDPR in mind. We do not ask a child to provide a name, email address, phone number, location, photo, contact list, or free-form message inside a game, and we do not build profiles of children for advertising or analytics. Optional Game Center features are provided and controlled by Apple under the Apple Account’s age settings, parental controls, and privacy terms. If you believe personal information about your child has reached us directly, contact us and we will investigate and delete anything we control.

Advertising and in-app purchases

Most of our games display no third-party advertising. Word Fall uses Google Mobile Ads to request child-directed, non-personalized ads with a General content rating; it does not create advertising profiles for children. Google may process the technical information needed to deliver, secure, and measure an ad under Google’s own privacy terms. We do not receive a child’s name or contact details from Google, and we do not use advertising data to identify or profile children. Word Fall’s full advertising and privacy notice is available at skylearningstudio.com/privacy/word-fall. In-app purchases and purchase restoration are processed by Apple StoreKit or Google Play. The app receives only the information needed to confirm that an entitlement has been purchased or restored; we never see or store card numbers or other payment details.

This website

This website does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your language preference (English or Japanese) is stored in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers your choice; it is not transmitted to us. Our hosting provider, Vercel, may process standard server logs such as IP address and browser type for security and reliability purposes.

The contact form on this website

Our support pages include a contact form. It is the one place where we receive personal information, and it is intended for parents, guardians and other adults — not for children. If you use it, we receive the name, email address and message you type, along with the app and topic you select. We use them only to reply to you and to fix what you have reported.

Messages are delivered to our support inbox by Google Workspace, which carries and stores our email on our behalf, and are kept only as long as we need them to resolve your enquiry and to keep a record of reported bugs. We never add you to a mailing list, never use your message for marketing, and never pass it to anyone outside the studio. You can ask us to delete your message at any time by writing to hello@skylearningstudio.com. You are always free to email us directly instead of using the form.

Third-party services

The App Store and Google Play operate under their own privacy policies when you download or purchase a game. Apple Game Center operates under Apple’s privacy terms when a player uses authentication, leaderboards, or Kotoba Match. Word Fall uses Google Mobile Ads for child-directed, non-personalized advertising. This website is hosted by Vercel, loads web fonts from Google Fonts, and uses Google Workspace to deliver support messages; those providers may process the limited technical or message information needed to provide their services.

Your choices and deletion

You can play Kotoba Quest solo without Game Center, restrict Game Center multiplayer in Screen Time, or sign out of Game Center in the device settings. Deleting one of our games removes progress stored locally by that game. Game Center information is controlled through the player’s Apple Account and Apple privacy tools; because we do not keep a separate copy, we cannot access or delete Apple’s records. An adult can ask us to delete a website support message by emailing hello@skylearningstudio.com.

Changes to this policy

If we change how our games or website handle information, we will update this page and change the date above. Material changes will be noted in the relevant app’s store listing as well.
