Kotoba Quest
Kotoba Quest is a bilingual memory game with three card modes, 14 word worlds, and an optional Game Center match. Most questions are about choosing a mode, unlocking the journey, or finding an online player.

Purchases
Ninja’s Garden and Samurai’s Dojo are free to play, with no limit on how often you can replay them.
One US$3.99 purchase unlocks every remaining word world and online Kotoba Match together.
The unlock is paid once and never renews. There are no ads, subscriptions, or consumable currency.
Restore a purchase
Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, not to your device. If you've changed phone, deleted and reinstalled the app, or set up a new device, restoring brings everything back at no extra cost.
- 1Open Kotoba Quest and tap any locked word world, or tap Online Match while it is locked.
- 2Tap Restore Purchases on the unlock screen.
- 3Wait for confirmation. Every word world and Kotoba Match will open together.
Restoring only works while signed in to the same Apple Account that made the original purchase. If nothing comes back, check which account is signed in under Settings → your name, then try again.
Common questions
What is the difference between Japanese, English, and Mix?
Japanese matches a picture card with its Japanese word, and English does the same with its English word. Mix removes the picture-to-word shortcut: an English card matches the Japanese card for the same meaning. It is the best mode to build towards, but either single-language mode is a gentler start.
Why does the board get larger in later worlds?
Each world adds more pairs as the journey continues, from 4 pairs in Ninja’s Garden to 12 in Emperor’s Sky Keep. Go back to an earlier world when your child wants a shorter round; replaying never costs anything.
How does Kotoba Match work?
Two Game Center players take turns on one shared 24-card board. A match earns another turn; a miss passes the turn. The player who collects the most bilingual pairs wins. Kotoba Match is included with the all-worlds unlock.
Do we need Game Center?
Only for Kotoba Match. The full solo journey works without Game Center or an internet connection. Online play uses Apple’s Game Center sign-in and matchmaking; Sky Learning Studio does not receive your child’s name, email address, or account details.
Where is our best score saved?
Kotoba Quest remembers the fewest mistakes for each world and each card mode on the device. There is no studio account or cloud progress service, so deleting the app also deletes those local records.
If something goes wrong
- 1Close the app fully — swipe up from the bottom of the screen and flick the app away — then open it again.
- 2Restart the device. This clears up most graphics and audio problems on its own.
- 3Check the App Store for an update; we ship fixes there first.
- 4If the screen is black or the game won't start after an update, delete and reinstall. Purchases come back with Restore; stage progress is stored on the device and will be lost, so try the other steps first.
